On this date in 1980, Gen X released their seventh single, "Dancing With Myself". It was backed by "Ugly Rash". The A side appeared on their third and final album, Kiss Me Deadly. The B side was a non-LP track. The re-released version of the CD had a dub version of the B side as a bonus track. It was called "Ugly Dub". This was the last single by the band as well, if you don't include the various 12 inch versions of the A side and a four song EP with the A side as the lead track that was released later. The album as well as this single were by "Gen X" which they had shortened from their normal "Generation X". Billy Idol also released the song separately after the breakup of the band. The London punk band was formed by Billy Idol, Tony James and John Towe, all of whom left punk band Chelsea before it was time to record. They lasted until 1981 with three albums to their credit. Tony James went on to form Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Billy Idol...well...we know what he did after this.
