DRI "Dealing With It!"
The ever so classic DRI...one of the great crossover bands. If you are unaware, I would definately recommend giving them a listen for some they were the ultimate, and others maybe not so much. No matter what they were definitely worth a listen as I'm sure most of you are aware. Go on and take a listen to a time when bands actually played their instruments without protools.
Noise that matters.

Small Town Pimps
Genre: Psychobilly/Punkabilly
"Small Town Pimps (the original)"
Band Members : Kinky Pimp/Guitar & Lead Vocals Sexy Pimp/Contrabass Turbo Pimp/Drumstuff
Here they are: The most fabulous, fantastic, dangerous, greatest and the nicest trio of rock«n«roll guys you ever will meet.
Small town Pimps started (as a musical trio) about 1995. Their original pimpbusiness goes way back in the 50«s. Bangin away old covers of Vincent, Cochran, Batmobile and the rest of the traditional rockabillystuff in their first line-up: T. Palin on guitar, M Wistršm on a big bass with 2 holes on the front, M Frank on drums. About a year later H Jonsson joined in. The pimps first album was released on Crazy Love Records 1997 entitled "Pimplyfied" and contained original material about zombies, babes and billy. In 1998 Small Town Pimps became a trio again; H Jonsson Guitars & almost vocals,M Wiström bass and M Frank on drums.
During the past years they«ve travelled around and played a lot of fantastic gigs on festivals, carclubs, parties, pubs, clubs mainly in Sweden but also in europe (Spain, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Finland). A concert with the pimps is never boring, never sad, never slow. During the spring in 1999 a new record was released "For a few hookers more" on the same great german label. The reviews were more than great. Their latest album has been released on the well known german label: Knock-Out records. The CD/vinyl is titled "B-I-N-G-O!"". Their best rockin stuff ever, so go and check it out. (2003 the Funny Pimp took farewell and STP welcomed Rookie Pimp on drums). In 2004 STP recorded they long awaited 4th album "Sexpaty IV" which is soon to be released. A great sounding record we've heard. :)
Along with the new album "sexparty 4" there's also a "best of" album to be released: "Red Light Classics" containing tracks from the old records and a few unreleased tracks! Both of the albums released on Fast & Angry RECORDS. Enjoy!

Tis That Season
Starting with the SLICK RICK SCION EVENT that went down Dec. 18th. That seems so long ago. Anyway right after this show I had to hightail it back to Austin, so I haven't been at a computer with Photoshop since then and have been embarrassed that I really didn't take a lot of photos on this particular night, and real talk, it was one of the best shows I hath ever been a part of. Slick Rick with the Rhythm Root All Stars? Shiiiiiiiiiiit.....
Once again I ddin't make it to the stage to get any real shots, but you get the idea here. It was packed and off the chain.
Willie D, Rico and Bun B. Yes my friends, Bun B was in the house. What a man. So good to see him out and about. I'm still messed up about Pimp C's passing, I can't imagine how he feels.
Hey, I was just wondering, is anyone investigating this shit or is it just another rapper death? Theres so many things that I want to ask/say right now, but I just can't. I wish somebody would.
DEZ! Dez designed a new bottle for Mountain Dew! Look for the unveiling in February!
Crystal Lee, Dez and Witnes
Katina and KAM! Kam is the #1 promoter in Houston.
And of course, STACY!
KPFT KREW IN FOOL EFFECT! DJ Sun, Zin and Cara!
Anyway like I said, directly after that event I headed back to work in Austin then had Christmas part 2 and 3 and then back to Houston for part 4 and tomorrow we go to Erie, PA for part 5. If any of my hometown (or Buffalo) peeps read this thing, hit me up at my moms. We will crack some Yuenglings and reminisce and such.
No this isn't a hipster party for dwarfs, it's Elena and Eva with their cousin Layla at Oma's Haus.
And this is here at home. Those stockings took two lifetimes and four hands to make.
THESE DOLLS CAN GO IN THE WATER! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS???
Real partiers Crystal Lee, Heather B, Matt D and WifeSoReal
And what Christmas party would be complete without Grandpa Chill asleep in his cap for a long winters nap...
I hope to see you before 2008, then it's off to AustinSurreal, so get ready ready.

Hellsonics
Genre: Psychobilly
DANCE WITH THE DEVIL "
Band Members : Killie D. (Vocals), Mean (Drums), Brain Detzer (Guitar) and JC (Bass)
Influences : ...The Devil
Sounds Like : El sonido del diablo
The legendary Lemmy Kilmister once said about Motörhead: ‘Even if you hate us, we’re still unique.’ The same goes for Hellsonics, because their crossbreed of punk, metal and psychobilly stands alone. To prove the point, just let ‘Demon Queen’ blast through all the watts you got. The purist nitpickers back off in disbelief to their old ways, while reckless fanatics praise this record as a bold dose of unorthodox rock & roll. The four Hellsonics used to slam in the Antwerp hardcore/metal scene, before they joined forces in 2002 to start a totally different unit. An exploring alliance, embracing all their individual styles. Upright bass player Johnny Crash slaps the psycho vibe in, deep and creeping as well as on dragster speed. Mean Krapula is a rhythmic sadist to his drums, tight like a headbanger on a sledgehammer groove. Brain Detzer’s guitar has a punk attitude from the doomdays of Discharge, but can also aim reverb on a wave of Danzig. Singer Killie D. was on the airwaves during her ten year run as host of Shock Report, the hardest radio show in Belgium at the time. She’s been vibrant in live bands since 1989, yet with the rise of Hellsonics her haunting voice reaches beyond former boundaries. Moreover a mesmerizing frontwoman glorifying a wicked charm, luring many drifters to the scorching sound of Hellsonics. Or as they say in Flemish: ‘The original sonido del diablo.’ Universally speaking that means ‘Demon Queen’ provokes good music for sinners. Good is the new evil!

The Kings Of Nuthin'
THE KINGS OF NUTHIN'
#Boston, Massachusetts -United States#
Genre: Punk-a-Billy
Band Members:
Torr Skoog-vocals
Zack Brines-piano
Liam Crill-drums
Necro-washboard
Trafton Waldrio-guitar
Thomas Lorioux-upright bass
Hayden Cummings-sax
Influences : booze, coffee, frantic 50's R&B, 70's punk
Sounds Like : Little Richard huffs with the Ramones and puts his 45s on 78.
About The Kings Of Nuthin' :
We started playing in the late 90's in a leaky warehouse using whatever equipment we could dumpster or steal and whoever we could lure in with a coupla beers. I think our only real goal was to get some beers by being obnoxious at punk and rockabilly shows since that was pretty much what we were doing before we were a band. We wanted to play traditional rythym and blues but this is what came out. We now have three records and two 7 inches and have played a lot of clubs, bars, car shows, squats, tatoo conventions, parties, VFW halls, and leaky ships in the US, Gemany, England, Spain, Italy (sorry guys), Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France, Holland, Czech Republic, and Poland. We've got both US and European dates this summer, so we're probably playing somewhere near you, check back here for updates.
Eight proud Boston street hoodlums equipped with the instrumentation of a full piece rhythm & blues band from the fifties: upright bass, horns, piano, guitar, vocals and even a washboard player. A unique psychobilly band indeed.

Not Gone Yet
I am and always have been, a sentimental flitcase. In fact, every year about this time I get a disturbing feeling of doom, not about Christmas, as I actually very much so enjoy Christmas, but more about the impending new year.
I never had any worries about Y2K - even while one of my great friends was curled up in a fetal position beneath his computer desk (for some odd reason) cuz he was SURE that God was gonna strike us all down at the stroke of the new millenium and made sure every minute of every day leading up to it that I knew this "fact" - and I have no worries for 2008. But something about watching another year pass always gives me this melancholy feeling that I can't shake.
Couple that with all of the impending changes in my life, the fact that my family and I will celebrate Christmas in no less than four cities in one weeks time and then in the next week move to Austin to full on start my new job at SXSW, yeah I'm freaking out.
I'm a nervy person in general (ask Devin, he'll tell you), and this combination of excitement and well anxiety I guess is why I haven't posted anything on this blog since I put the Hillbilly fracas up some time ago. There's no real point to this post other than to say Happy Holidays to all of y'all, do your best to get through it all and look forward to big things in 2008.
Real Talk.
Know'm Sayin'.
Um.
Yep.

P.S. This whole Pimp C thing also has my head a mess. R.I.P. to one of the main reasons any of you are even reading this blog. For if it wasn't for UGK, there may never have really ever been "Southern Rap." And here we sit.

Kill Your Idols + The Nerve Agents
Genre: Horrorcore
Rockzone.com review:
When 2 good bands release a split 7", the result is almost always amazing. That is true for the Nerve Agents/Kill Your Idols split.
When I first heard that these 2 of my favorite hardcore bands are doing a 7" split with each other, on Mankind Recods, I rushed to the store and picked this baby up. I first noticed how the album covers have a 40s/50s horror movie themes. The Nerve Agents side shows a Frankenstein shoving his hand in to a dead, or soon to be dead, person's mouth, while the Kill Your Idols side features a vampire crawling out of a trash can.
When I got home, I couldn't wait to pop this baby into my record player. What I heard was some good ol' in yer face hardcore from both bands, the only contrast that this 7" has, compared to the earlier releases by both bands, is that the songs have a horror movie type themes to them.
Each band does 3 hardcore gems. Kill Your Idols start the record off by doing "Empty Room," The song is about mourning over someone's death of a close person, possibly a spouse. The song "Green" is about missing a loved one, and how your life doesn't seem complete without that person. A cover of Scandal song "Good-bye To You" finishes the KIY side.
Nerve Agents side starts out with a song called "Planet Frankenstein." The song takes a dark glimpse into the future of how our planet will be taken over by superhuman creations. The song "Dead Man Walking" talks about a drug junkie; who has wasted his life and is no more than a dead man walking. The Nerve Agents side ends with a cover of David Bowie's song "Suffragette City" which is a nice ending to the 7", I must say.
Go out and get the split 7" and see what these 2, incredibly talented hardcore bands, have in store for you. Don't listen to the 7" at night because you may have trouble sleeping afterwards!
