Then last night on Damage Control:
We did a bit of a tribute to Big Hawk. The Grit Boys showed up and not a lot of others did, but that's o.k. We really didn't put the call out that hard. I thought Chill would bring some of the folks from the Street Flava taping at his store earlier, but its all good. I just really wanted to play the mans music.
What more is to be said? It's a travesty that he is gone, we miss him, and we'd love to see some justice. Of course no one is going to help in that quest for justice, not the police and not the streets, so we just have to sit and mourn our dude, all the while wondering what the fuck happened.
So I played a bunch of Hawk freestyles and classic collabos for the first hour or so, then we played a bit of a personal tape DJ Screw made for Hawk. Chills computer was having problems so once he fixed that he did like a 15 minute mix of Hawk singles and then Amy came on to finish the show and play everybody elses shit.
I left early and didn't get to upload the show yet. But I'll go by there and get the recording uploaded along with last weeks show from when I wasn't there.
But yeah man, I just still feel sick about this shit. Willie D called in from Azerbaijan and said something like "Hawk was a good dude, there's a whole lot of other rappers they could have shot instead of him."
I think he meant, why'd they take one of the great ones from us, once again.
I see people shitting on each other left and right, fucking over each others business, cock blocking the entire city, or at least attempting to, and they had to go and take Big Hawk. What the fuck did he do to deserve that? I have to assume nothing. It's a fucking travesty.

Después de su último tour con Nekromantix, Petter Sandorff pasó un tiempo con su amigo y artista gráfico Gris Grimly en los Angeles en 2004. Surgió la idea de hacer sobre un película sobre caníbales y Peter decidió empezar a trabajar en la banda sonora con su viejo amigo Jeppe B. Jessen, bajista, en Dinamarca, pero aún necesitaban un bateria.
Un día en Long Beach pasó por una tienda de 2ª mano y acabó comprando una caja de ritmos Roland TR 707 a un viejo mejicano que la habia ganado en una partida de póker. De vuelta a Dinamarca, la banda sonora empezó a tomar forma y la caja de ritmos fué bautizada con el nombre de Ghost 707 y se convirtió en miembro permanente de la banda. Y así algo que solo pretendia ser un proyecto para hacer la banda sonora de una película se convirtió en un grupo: Hola Ghost.

The whole story of the Ghost, the amazing drum machine can be found from www.holaghost.com, here's a short version of the bio.
After his last tour with Nekromantix Peter Sandorff spent time with his graphic artist friend Gris Grimly in Los Angeles in 2004. The idea of a movie about cannibals was born and Peter decided to start working on the soundtrack for Cannibal Flesh Riot with an old friend in Denmark, bass player Jeppe B. Jessen, but the drummer had to be found.
One day in Long Beach Peter passed a pawnshop and ended up buying a Roland TR 707 drum machine from old Mexican guy who had won the machine from a poker game. Back in Denmark the soundtrack began to take shape, and the drum machine was baptized as Ghost 707 and became permanent member of something that was supposed to be just a project for a movie soundtrack but became a band: Hola Ghost.
Since then Hola Ghost has been playing shows in Europe an US and especially "Ghost 707" has been gaining a constantly growing group of followers. While becoming an important part of the band, Ghost 707 together with Jeppe and Peter has developed a growing interest in Mexican music and flamenco with, and they have been working these influences into their music together with the punk, psychobilly, rock’n roll and everything else they brought along from the past. This results in something that does not sound like any particular genre, but with room to embrace whatever musical influences they feel like and the will to ROCK! They name it: “PSYCHOTIC FLAMENCORE AND MORE…”
After finishing the score for Gris Grimly’s movie "Cannibal Flesh Riot", Hola Ghost performed selected compositions from the soundtrack at the movies opening nights in the "Silent Movie Theatre" in Hollywood, November 2006, and then supported the Australian psychobilly band ZOMBIE GHOST TRAIN on the SoCal part of their US-tour.
This summer the "Cannibal Flesh Riot" DVD, the soundtrack with a graphic version of the movie drawn by Gris Grimly and a mini album is planned to come out. - All with the living dead drummer "Ghost 707" keeping up the beat!

I'll never forget the call. It was 11:30 p.m. on May 1st, 2006. I had already shut down my cell phone for the night and was preparing for bed when my home phone rang. It was DJ Chill. I thought to myself, "Why the hell is Chill calling my home phone this late? What the hell happened."
I said "Hello?" and like every time Chill calls he said "MATT THIS CHILL."
I said "Yes, what's up?"
Chill says, "Mayne Hawk got shot mayne."
I said, "No he didn't."
He said "Yes he did!"
I said, "No he didn't who the hell would shoot Hawk? Are you sure?"
He said, "I'm on the way over there now, I'll hit you back." And hung up.
That's verbatim.
I went to my room thinking that there is no way that could possibly be true and the next morning I would wake up to find it was all a hoax.
How in the hell could the coolest dude on the Houston rap scene get shot? Who would shoot him? Why? I couldn't even fathom it.
Some people, sure, you call and tell me they got shot, I might shed a tear, but I won't be surprised. I was pissed when Pac and Biggie died but I wasn't surprised. I definitely wasn't surprised when Pac was shot, and after that happened I figured it'd only be a matter of time till someone hit Biggie. (Though I still have these feelings that one day they will return from the island they are hiding on, on some "We hath ressurected like Jesus to save hip-hop" type shit. But I'm probably wrong.)
Anyway man, there's not much I can say that hasn't been said before. I'm feeling real shitty today. Thinking about his beautiful wife and children that were left behind all because some sack of shit felt he had something to prove when he shot a genuine H-Town rap legend.
I take this shit personally because I know/deal with pretty much every artist on the scene here in Texas. There's a lot of cool people, but no one carries themselves as humbly as Hawk. No one is as approachable. No one takes care of his people, like Hawk did.
I mean seriously, if I ever wanted to do anything with the SUC, I'd call Hawk. If we ever needed an expert opinion on Damage Control, I'd call him and he'd be there. I'm talking about from Day 1 when we were nothing, he'd always show up. If I called him and said "Hawk, you should be at this event," he'd be there. No question.
He was the man.
To this day his killer(s) has not been caught. Some folks on the street and on the internet say that his killer has "already been dealt with." Whatever, I want proof. Put the motherfuckers head on a stick and throw it in the ocean. It kills me to even think about it. That was my dude and I miss you brother.
