Devin the Dude Mixing New AlbumSkateboard Art in Houston

Well it's official, I went by Studio 7303 today and sure enough there were Devin the Dude, Mike Dean, Rob Quest and Domo mixing the tracks on the new Devin album.

Rob Quest, Devin the Dude, Mike Dean, DJ Domo

I don't have a whole lot of details on it, yet, matter of fact it's still untitled, but what I have heard so far is straight fire. It's quite family heavy with a good amount of beats done in house by the Coughee Brothaz and in my opinion what I have heard so far is Devin's best work yet. Look for it in February on Rap-A-Lot Records. Question though, is Asylum gonna do anything for it or are they just gonna let it drift away like a cloud of smoke. The way I see it, Asylum has done nothing for Trae or Z-Ro at all, soooooo, what's gonna happen with Devin? Are you New York fuckers gonna step up to the plate or are you only interested in "movements."

Devin the Dude is somuch more than what you may perceive as a "movement." We shall just wait and see. It's time for Devin to blow though. Fuck a movement, this is Devin the Dude.

Don't take that lightly.

Know'm sayin'? Peep Mike Dean's new haircut. He's like the throwdest studio dude in the rap game. Speaking of Game, he's got a few songs on that album that he mixed as well.

The evolution of a chronic sack.

Smoke break

Rob Quest's album is no joke either. Look for that in early 2007.

For real.

Coughee Brothaz never slackin'

And yo the other night, Aerosol Warfare presented a night of skateboard art. I'm not totally sure what it was all about cuz Witnes invited me like a few hours beforehand. But I'm glad I went. Shit was thowed.

Dizrokwel doing big things. Seen here in front of the most delux porta john I have ever seen.

I had to get a photo of it and these girls were more than happy to help enhance said photo. Sote the rack for hanging your jacket, plastic flowers, TWO rolls of toilet paper, a sink, 3 mirrors AND the most important feature that ALL Other porta johns lack, a flat surface to set your drink.

Said flowers.

Hat's off to you First Class Rentals.

And here's just a few examples of some of the work on display. My camera battery died so soem of these photos are extra sketchy. Like I'd turn the camera off for a minute and then turn it on and shoot real fast with whatever power I could muster, anyway, enough excuses here's some shitty pictures of some great art.

I don't know who did what but I wish I did.

The legendary Gonzilla on the tables.

My homey Melissa from New Mexico and posse swang thru. They are working on bringing Slick Rick to Texas for a series of shows, which I am all in favor of.

And these people were like interviewing each other all night and the woman didn't wear any shoes. Silly art peoples.

Until next time... I'm off to see Shawn McMillen at Rudyards and his guitar.

Rob G.SoReal Listening Party Off da ChainLast Nights Damage Control Gangsta Party

Before we jump into the madness I wanted to post a picture drawn by my 4 year old daughter DJ Eva. She says it is a "DJ Picture" and in it you can see DJ's Rapid Ric and Princess Cut amongst a bunch of records, CD's, their car, some speakers and more. But I'm sure you already knew that.

Awready.

Mayne it went down last night. My good, good peoples at Latium Entertainment brought the city out in celebration of the impending release of the debut disc from one of the hardest lyricists in Houston. Rob G. is no joke man, for real. His crew SWAT (South West Alief Texas right?) is coming with that real and here you can see some of these boys. I'ma link you right here to ROB G'S MYSPACE PAGE. You need to go there and get that "REPPIN' MY BLOCK," one of the hottest songs on the streets of Houston at the moment.

Rob G. seen here with the SWAT! Serious, don't sleep on these boys.

Rob G.

Of course he's down with super publicist Nancy Byron seen here with my man Ghetto and friends.

Money Marc and Rob G.

Rob G. a little too close to Natalie

Rob G. and my potna Rascal from Mega 101, Pretty much my favorite morning show that doesn't talk about politics and the impending doom of the republican run apocalypse that some might call the Rapture but I sure don't. (Yes I listen to Democracy Now! No time for jokes in the morning time. But when I want to laugh I peep The Mexicanz).

Nancy with that SWAT!

Charles Chavez running the game SoReal. A true asset to everything Houston.

Here Rob G. "battles" Chavez, but like T. Gray said later, it was more like a roast. Chavez offered $500 to anybody who could beat Rob G. in a battle, no one stepped up so Rob battled Chavez and well, you can guess the rest.

And this is the point in the blog where things get interesting...

The G-Z Unit was of course in full effect.

Liz appears to have a couple of new additions to the family. Hello, pleased to meet y'all. See more of her at www.lizishot.com

Or you can peep her MySpace. For some reason she gets a lot more profile views than me and I can't figure it out cuz I'm pretty fuckin' thowed on that MySpace.

Willow from IS INC in the building!

You thank they got a fo fo one special or was it two fo one? I don't know.

Lilly in the house.

Anyway the party was thowed and I am excited for this whole project. Houston needs something to be excited about again and I think it just might be the man Rob G.

After that I hit up a punk rock bar for a beer before Damage Control cuz it was right down from the station and I met with a photographer friend of mine who says The Source owes him $9,000. Way to fuck over the south you cunts.

Then it was Damage Control time. You gotta download the show from this week cuz man, there's some real music on there.

I don't know what to do. Our fund drive is over, and we did terrible. For real. I mean shit, I know it was the 5th fund drive of the year and a 3 week long one at that, but man, what's it gonna take to make the streets understand that one hand washes the other and without the support of the people, there is no Damage Control? Seriously, I'm not gonna elaborate cuz when you download and listen to the show you will be elaborated on to death. But it was a good show. DJ Chill was feeling under the weather, but for some reason was still at the station when I left, so me, DJ Gloss, Amy, Golden Child and Tosin held it down and played gangsta shit all night. For the most part. Sorry hipstaz. No dancing today in your cubicle, just a lot of head nodding and "yeahs," and "haaaanhs." Had to take 'em to Gary, Indiana for a minute last night.

Tosin the Dot Com Don of TheScrewShop.com was in the house. He's one of our greatest supporters on all levels.
